Facebook and many of its apps have been blocked in China for years. So they launched an app on sharing photos, in order to dodge the Chinese law, as a person knowing about the company’s plans told The New York Times.
The app is named Colorful Balloons, and is similar to Facebook's Moments. To log into the new app the largest social network in China, WeChat, is used.
The developer lists the company Youge Internet Technology, which has no connection to Facebook, the NYT emphasized. The company is based in Beijing.
Facebook doesn’t officially confirm their involvement in the app, but the company confirmed their interest in the Chinese market.
