United States Navy reports that the bodies of missing sailors were found inside the damaged USS Fitzgerald. This was reported by AP.

The searchers gained access to the areas that were damaged during the collision.

"Navy says the remains are being transferred to Naval Hospital Yokosuka where they will be identified," the message reads.

As The Washington Post writes, American sailors were found in the berthing compartments of the ship, which flooded after the damage of destroyer’s starboard. It was reported that sailors were sleeping when the incident occurred.

Families are being notified receiving necessary help. Names of the sailors will be made public after all relatives are informed.

As it was earlier reported, maritime incident took place off the coast of the Sea of Japan, as USS Fitzgerald crashed into a container ship.
