Within the framework of the Eurovision Song Contest-2017, a mini-ceremony of awarding the Marcel Besencon Award was held in Kyiv.
The Marcel Besencon Prize ceremony is held annually, starting from 2002. The statuette is given in three nominations: the Composers' Prize, the Art Prize and the Prize of the Press.
In 2017, the winner in the Composers' Prize nomination is Louia Sobral, the author of the song of the Portugal's representative. "The artistic prize" was given to the representative of Portugal and the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest-2017 Salvador Sobral. "Prize of the press" went to the representative of Italy Francesco Gabbani.

"I hope my victory makes a change not only in Eurovision but also in pop music. If I can bring some sort of change to the pop music in the world in general, because people only listen to the music that is thrown at us from the radio stations, I’ll be more than happy," said the winner Salvador Sobral.
