Another temporary solution for storing Lviv waste found
The waste shall be taken away from the city and utilized on the waste disposal site of other cities of Lviv region. The respective memorandum to be signed today
Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers together with Lviv Regional State Administration and local authorities found the temporary response to the waste problem in Lviv, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.
“The waste shall be taken away from the city and utilized on the waste disposal site of other cities of Lviv region for the time until the Lviv City Council to take the system decision on the way of further hard domestic waste utilization,” reads the message.
It is also noted that the agreement on waste acceptance shall be entrenched in the Memorandum on cooperation of the Lviv City Council and the local municipal authorities, that provide the waste sites or urban ore dumps on their territories.
The document shall be signed today, on April 21.
As it was reported earlier, Lviv is suffering from the trash blockade. Every day the city produces about 600 tons of waste, but there is no place to export them. More than a third of the urns are overcrowded. After the fire at trash dump near Grybovychi village (near Lviv) in last year, the city was forced to take out the garbage to other landfills, which eventually refused to accept the waste.
