The vast majority of Ukraine’s population is proud to be citizens of the country, according to the last nation-wide survey conducted by the Ukrainian Sociology Institute. The numbers were broken down by region. 80% of Western Ukraine answered that they are the proud, and 9% gave a negative response. In Central part 71% are proud, and 2% are not, according to the poll. Speaking about Southern Ukraine, 59% respondents here are proud of being citizens of their country, and 18% answered negatively. The question has been asked in Donbas: 45% gave a positive response, another 24% gave negative answer, and some 24% said that they have not made their mind yet.
Traditional values are reflected in a bunch of other indicators, conducted by the poll. For example, patriotic outlook is the key thing to unite the population – 41% of Ukrainians share this statement. Another significant unifying factors named by the respondents are profound public dissatisfaction with the authorities (36%), belief in a favorable future (35%), and overcoming the common challenges (35%).
