Air strikes hit the western district of Mosul al-Jadida area, which is controlled by ISIS militants, on Thursday. Local people have seen at least three missiles hit the city.
Perhaps the aim of the attack was to eliminate one of the ISIS commanders Harbi Abdel Qader. During the attack Qader was not there, however family members were killed.
The operation to liberate Mosul from ISIS continued since last October. Around 80% of the eastern part of the city returned under control of the Iraqi military, but the west remains entirely in the hands of terrorists.
