The "merciless killing of a large number of unprotected detainees" in a Syrian government prison where 13,000 individuals have been hanged in the previous five years, and where mass hangings of up to 50 individuals at once happen each week, some time twice per week. New Amnesty International report posted on February 7 revealed the horrible facts.

The mass hangings have occurred at Saydnaya military jail close to Damascus from 2011 to 2015 - and there are clear signs that the mass hangings still continue.

A large portion of those hanged were regular citizens that have been against the administration. The killings occurred in incredible mystery amidst the night. The executions take place after one- or two-minute lawyer-less “trials” using “confessions” extracted through torture.

Survivors of Saydnaya have likewise given stunning declarations about their life inside the jail. That world painstakingly intended to embarrass, corrupt, sicken, starve and at last slaughter those caught inside. Amnesty thus decided that the torment and horrifying conditions at Saydnaya have been intentionally delivered on prisoners as an arrangement of "elimination".

These practices, which add up to atrocities and violations against humankind, are authorized at the highest levels of the Syrian government.
