The Kremlin started to decrease its military contingent in Syria and the Mediterranean Sea. The group of Russian naval ships led by Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier will be the first to leave the area of military conflict.  Valeriy Gerasimov, the Head of General Staff of Russia’s Armed Forces said this as quoted by TASS.

On January 6, the vessels will head to their home port in Severomorsk, northern Russia.

Previously, UN Security Council unilaterally voted for the resolution, which re-affirms the ceasefire in Syria and calls to the beginning of negotiations between the Syrian government and the opposition.

The ceasefire agreement took effect on December 30, but has been violated since then.
