Kremlin insists Seagal persistently asked for the citizenship for a long time

The President of Russia granted Russian citizenship for the American actor. The respective Executive order according Russian citizenship to Steven Seagal was published published on the Kremlin website.

“In compliance with Item A of Article 89 of the Russian Federation Constitution, the President issued the order to accord Russian Federation citizenship to Steven Frederic Seagal, born April 10, 1952, in the United States of America," reads the message.

American actor Steven Seagal has been requesting Russian citizenship for a long time, according to the press-secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“He was quite persistent to request the Russian citizenship for a long period of time,” said Peskov. He added that Seagal was never hiding his warm feelings to Russia.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin granted Anatoliy Wasserman, former Ukrainian scientist from Odesa, known for his anti-Ukrainian statements. In September 2015 Security Service of Ukraine instituted a criminal proceeding against Anatoliy Wasserman for infringement of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
