Minister of Industry Monica Meland declared Oslo readiness to discuss the resumption of trade and economic cooperation with Russia. This was reported in her statement after the meeting with Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergey Donskoy, published on the website of the Norwegian Government.

"The meeting with the Minister was constructive and positive. We are positive about the resumption of the political dialogue on trade and economic cooperation with Russia, which has already been done by some of the EU countries,” Meland said.

"We are committed to good neighborly relations with Russia, especially in the north, where we have a common border and a common interest in this context, the meeting held today is important,” she added.

Norway has joined the sanctions against Russia in 2014.
