‘The more famous the figure, the more chances it will be detained and held as hostage in Russia. The FSB has their own instructions about who can be charged and particular charges that can be brought against these people. Sushchenko was chosen for a reason. They have been targeting him for a long time already,’ Roman Bezsmertny said.

The Ukrainian diplomat added that the post-Soviet system of organization and activity of special service still lives in Russia and other member countries of the Customs Union. ‘One shouldn’t ignore these things, including these working in the common customs area in Belarus and Kazakhstan,’ he said.
