Ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych came out to speak with the media when the video conference ended.

"I do not want to comment what happened today on a matter of law", said Yanukovych.

His lawyer called the Prosecutor General to open a criminal case on the fact of blocking the departure of former Berkut officers from prison.

"Ukraine’s side prevents the carrying out of the court’s meeting... The police actions need to be regarded as negligence", the Lawyer said.

The Prosecutor in the case of ex-berkut officers explained why Yanukovych has the status of a witness: "This is the aspect of the procedure. Yanukovych is a suspect in the crimes in the criminal proceedings, which are being investigated with respect to him, and these proceedings are against former Berkut officers", he stated.
