U.S. Army servicemen and armored cavalry reached Romania for joint military exercises slated for next month. The troops will be stationed at the military air base near Cotstanta, eastern Romania. About 1,500 infantry, Abrams battle tanks, Bradley IFVs and howitzers will be involved.

Previously, similar contingent of U.S. troops was deployed in Poland. In January 2017, a large group of American military vehicles were deployed in the Baltic States, which was agreed and coordinated between the states’ leaders. On February 14, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg urged the Alliance’s member countries to increase the defense outlays.
