US offers UN Security Council to impose new sanctions against North Korea

Today UN will consider the proposed resolution of the United States

21:24, 5 August 2017
The United States on Saturday proposed to UN Security Council to vote for more stringent sanctions against North Korea. This is reported by Reuters referring to diplomatic sources.

The draft resolution was sent by the American side to all Security Council member states  on Friday. This shows the agreement of South Korea and China on the introduction of new restrictive measures.

Sanctions against the DPRK are planned to introduce because of the test of two intercontinental ballistic missiles, which Pyongyang carried out in July.

During the past month, the US negotiated with China on the text of the resolution. As a rule, these two countries approve new sanctions before they formally involve other members of the Security Council in the negotiation process.

As reported, the UN Secretary General condemned the launch of the DPRK missile and called for the restoration of relations with South Korea.

On July 29, North Korea announced the second successful launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile "Hwaseong-14."
