The US is disappointed by the lack of progress in situation with Donbas. This was reported by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson at a briefing on Sunday, July 9, in Kyiv.

"We are disappointed by the lack of progres in the framework of the Minsk agreement, which is why we appointed a special representative to draw attention to this issue, and now who will coordinate the activities of the Norman Quartet and the government of the Russian Federation to see if we can accelerate progress," he said.

Tillerson also noted that Russia should take the first step to stabilize the situation in Ukraine.

"In discussions with the leadership of Russia, I noted that Russia should take the first step to stabilize the situation in eastern Ukraine, in particular, I mean the cease-fire and the withdrawal of heavy weapons in order to allow OSCE monitors to carry out their work. In order to move forward on this issue, "the US Secretary of State added.
