US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker will meet the representative of the Russian government, in order to discuss Russian-Ukrainian relations, as the press service of the US Department of State informs.
According to the message, the meeting is to be held in Minsk. After this, Volker is to visit Vilnius to discuss the Ukraine question with Lithuanian government.
The message also informs that “On August 23, he will travel to Kyiv, Ukraine, where he will join Secretary of Defense James Mattis in meetings with senior Ukrainian government officials to discuss next steps in diplomatic negotiations to restore Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
As it was reported earlier, Volker and Surkov were to meet this week. Previously, during his visit to Donbas, Volker said the U.S. treat the ongoing hostilities in eastern Ukraine as the consequences of the Russian aggression, not the internal conflict. According to him, Washington currently considers giving Ukraine lethal weaponry, which would prevent Russia from further acts of violence.
