US Congress has formally approved the results of the presidential elections, in which Donald Trump won, at the meeting of both houses, The Hill reported.

According to the report, Vice President Biden, who was presiding over the proceedings, summed up the electoral vote, who cast their votes in accordance with the instructions to voters on December 19.

During the roll call of the states numerous objections were expressed against the election results on the basis of "Russian intervention" and "voter suppression", but were dismissed by the chairman.

It is noted that during the announcement of the final results at least two protesters in the audience began to shout slogans and were forcibly removed by police officers of the Congress.

Also, Michael Pence was approved on the post of vice-president of the USA.

Donald Trump’s inauguration will take place on January 20.
