“Minsk agreements give the best chance for restoring peace in Ukraine. They also define a distinct way to peace and restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and sovereignty of Donbas areas that Ukraine does not control so far. Ukraine will not be urged to unilaterally fulfil political obligations before Russia fulfils its obligations in the security area. Local elections can be held only under the respective security conditions, according to Ukrainian laws and standards of the OSCE,” she said.
U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden called for all political parties to unite in promoting reforms that are essential for strengthening Ukraine and restoring its sovereignty, according to her.
“Vice President also emphasized efforts of the U.S. to ensure that Russia fulfils its obligations by Minsk agreements,” she added.
The USA support authority of the National Bank of Ukraine to supervise the implementation of regulations, including those directed on capitalization by all banking sector participants of Ukraine, the Ambassador added.
“The transparent and successful banking sector is a key to economic recovery of Ukraine. Ukrainian banks matter a lot in financing innovations and for investments and that will contribute to economic growth and success of private sector,” she said.
Earlier, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that the progress in resolving the conflict in the Donbas reigion is only visible under a magnifying glass. However, the minister said, the path of peaceful settlement of the conflict is "neither quick nor easy”.
