The UN Security Council adopted a resolution imposing a ceasefire in Syria. It is reported by DW.

The decision was taken unanimously.

The resolution endorses declared in Syria ceasefire. In addition, the resolution prepared by Russia contains plans for the formation of a transitional government in Syria to bring the country out of the ongoing almost 6 years civil war.

Position of the humanitarian organizations also becomes easier - they will have fast and secure admission to those who need help.

Let us remind December 29, it was reported that Russia and Turkey have agreed on a plan for a comprehensive ceasefire in Syria. The agreement should cover all areas of fightings, and the parties of the conflict were asked to stop fighting from 00:00 on 29 December.

Further, with the support of Turkey and Russia parts are planning to start a discussion about a political settlement of the conflict. The talks should be held in Astana.

Despite the declared cease-fire in Syria there are reports of continuing skirmishes and air strikes.
