‘The rights of the detained Olexandr Kolchenko are definitely violated – when it comes to talking to consul. We keep trying to make it so that they meet eventually, but so far we can’t. On August 25, Kolchenko wrote the respective statement, expressing his will to meet the Ukrainian consul in Yekaterinburg, and the letter to the consul. We passed the letter via the colony’s chief but it never reached the Ukrainian consulate. In the near time, we will go to the colony and make our point more decisively’. Tatiana Shchur, Russian human rights watcher, said this in interview with 112 Ukraine TV channel.
Crimean public activist Olexandr Kolchenko was detained in the Russian-occupied Crimea and charged with preparation of terrorist acts; he was sentenced to 10 years in jail. He currently stays in isolation cell in Yekaterinburg.
