Ukraine intends to actively participate in UN peacekeeping operations. This was stated by Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on the issue of threats to peace operations, according to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service.
During his speech, Pavlo Klimkin said that peacekeeping is one of the main tasks of the UN, and an important tool for ensuring peace and long-term stability.
"Ukraine attaches great importance to the United Nations peacekeeping programs, given the fact that it is one of the key objectives of the organization and an important tool for ensuring peace and long-term stability. Ukraine is one of the leading countries in Europe, which provides its peacekeeping contingent in the UN peacekeeping operations, and we are proud of this contribution to the important work of the Organization. Despite the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, we will continue to actively participate in UN peacekeeping activities", Klimkin said.
As previously reported, the Minister of Environment of Ukraine headed a delegation to attend the UN Conference on Climate Change.
