Ukrainian diplomats in the UN Security Council intend to continue to oppose attempts to undermine the world order enshrined the UN Charter by the individual countries and to impose the logic of aggression, revanchism and return in the days of bipolar confrontation on the international community. This is stated in the statement of Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the UN.
"As one of the United Nations' founding members in 1945 that led the process of developing the objectives and principles of the UN Charter at a conference in San Francisco, Ukraine avails itself of this opportunity to renew commitment to the principles of the modern world, enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, in particular the development of friendly and good neighborly relations among nations based on the rule of international law, the sovereign equality of States, refraining in international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, the peaceful settlement of international disputes", reads the report.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that Russia in the UN received a dubious way in the governance body for more than two decades, fueling the destabilization of the world. Despite this, Ukraine declares the immutability of its vision of the UN as a key element of global security.
"Ukraine is aware of the need for joint counteraction against new challenges. Our position is clear and understandable. We have always been and are in favor of strict compliance with the UN Charter and fundamental principles of international law, strengthening the United Nations role in addressing global and regional security, in the creation of economic and social preconditions to prevent dangerous destructive tendencies of contemporary world development", said the Foreign Ministry, adding that Ukraine hopes for a more effective UN response to the Russian aggression.
Also Foreign Ministry emphasizes the role of the United Nations Development Program in support of reforms in Ukraine, including the restoration of Donbas.
"In 2015, UNDP has spent $ 32 million for the purposes of project activities in Ukraine. The total amount of assistance from the UNDP to Ukraine last year, including humanitarian assistance, estimated at more than $ 154 million. In 2016 the organization of the United Nations system planned to allocate nearly 238 million dollars for the purposes of project activities in Ukraine, support for recovery in the east of the state", mentioned the Foreign Ministry.
