Tombinski: EU outraged at verdict in Savchenko’s case

The sentence undermines confidence that there are fair trials in Russia, the diplomat said

The European Union is disturbed at the sentence in the case of Ukraine’s fighter pilot and MP Nadiya Savchenko. Head of EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski said this in an interview with 112 Ukraine TV channel, during the International Forum “Transformation of Ukraine”.

“We all are outraged at this verdict; there were a lot of appeals from the EU politicians, Mrs. Mogherini also spoke on this topic. This event once again undermines confidence that one can count on fair trial (in Russia). Nadiya Savchenko is the Ukrainian pilot, brought from Ukraine to Russia and judged in Russia. My colleagues in Russia and embassies of EU countries have been closely watchiung this process, and we will draw respective conclusions”, Tombinski said.
