Russia threatened with missile strike in the case if Ukraine conducts military drills near the occupied Crimea. This warning is contained in the letter of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, addressed to the military attaché at the Ukrainian Embassy in the Russian Federation. ZN.UA reports this, citing sources in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
A letter dated November 26 says that if Ukraine holds a similar military drills, the Russian side, in the first place, will shoot down Ukrainian missiles. Secondly, it will conduct a responding fire to eliminate the Ukrainian launchers.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry handed a note of protest to Ukrainian attaché in connection with the plans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to conduct missile firing near the occupied Crimea on December 1-2. Also, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 29 that he monitors the intentions of the Ukrainian authorities to conduct a training missile firing in the Black Sea in the annexed Crimea region.
In turn, the Ukraine’s Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said that Ukraine has no plans to conduct missile tests in the Kerch Strait, which forms the border between Ukraine and Russia.
