Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election, according to the Kremlin press service.

In his telegram, Putin expressed his hope to work together for getting the Russian-American relations out from the crisis, as well as to solve the urgent issues which are now on international agenda and search for effective responses to global security challenges.

"The Russian president also expressed confidence that building a constructive dialogue between Moscow and Washington, which is based on principles of equality, mutual respect and a real ungerstanding of each other's positions, responds the interests of our peoples and the world community", - said in a statement.

Putin wished Trump success in the "important work at the head of the state."

As reported, the victory in the US presidential election got Republican candidate Donald Trump. He has 279 votes of the 270 needed to win. Clinton got 215.
