President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko meets with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, his Press Secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko reports on Twitter.
Among other things, the parties discussed the EU sanctions against Russia for its aggression in Ukraine.
"Ukraine expects support from Greece on the issue of sanctions against Russia", Tsegolko commented on the meeting.
President of Ukraine thanked the Greek PM for his support of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, the condemnation of the aggression of the Russian Federation and the non-recognition of the annexation of the Crimea.
Tsipras, in turn, noted that his country is on the position of supporting peace and stability in Ukraine and is ready to contribute to this in every way. He also expressed interest in the development and deepening of Ukrainian-Greek relations.
An extended meeting of Ukrainian and Greek delegations led by Poroshenko and Tsipras will be held at the end of the talks.
