Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko congratulated Pope Francis on his jubilee, the politician’s press service reported.
“Your Holiness, on the behalf of the entire Ukrainian nation and me personally, I cordially congratulate you on your 80th jubilee. I wish you strong health, divine inspiration and God’s blessing in completing your extremely important mission. I do hope the almighty God will help you with all your initiatives at the Holy See. I’m sure your activity will contribute to further strengthening of Christian values, deepening dialogue and cooperation between churches and nations”, reads Poroshenko’s message on the occasion.
“We highly value your attention and support for the peaceful settlement of the Donbas conflict, as well as your blessing for the Ukrainian people. In the view of approaching Christmas holidays, I wish you, your Holiness, and all believers of the Catholic Church peace and prosperity”, Poroshenko wrote as quoted by his press service.
On November 20th, Poroshenko visited Vatican and negotiated with Pope Francis, inviting him to visit Ukraine.
