Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko announced the telephone conference in the Normandy format on Tuesday evening. The head of the state said this during his visit to Luhansk region on August 22.

‘At about 9.30 p.m. Kyiv time, I will have a phone conference in the Normandy format, where we are going to concentrate on strengthening the armed OSCE mission; we’ll also talk about deploying UN peacekeepers and the ceasefire announcement. We will offer a ceasefire starting from August 25 or September 1, so that children finally can go to school,’ the official said.

Earlier today, the Ukrainian leader said he would raise the issue of deploying UN peacekeepers in Donbas at the session of the UN General Assembly in September.
