Pope of Rome Francis told reporters that the Roman Catholic Church should apologize to gays for the former attitude toward them, according to Reuters.

The answer came after the Pope was asked whether he agreed with the statements of the German cardinal, that the church should apologize to gays. The Pontiff noted that according to church teachings, homosexuals "should not be discriminated against. They should be treated according to the Pastoral Epistles."

"I think the church should apologize not only to homosexuals, but must also apologize to the poor and to women who have been exploited, and to the children who were exploited and forced to work. Also the church should apologize for praising the weapon, "- said the Pope.
