Police in Brazil confirmed the death of the Ambassador of Greece to Brazil Kyriakos Amiridis. According to the examination, the body found in burned car belonged to the Greek Ambassador. It was reported by the Russian BBC Service.

The authorities believe that the ambassador was killed in the house of his wife, after which the body was put in ambassador’s rented car and was set on fire.

The police have questioned Ambassador’s wife. She is qualified in the murder case as a suspect, along with several other people. Investigators believe that the woman was having an affair with an unnamed police officer.

Prior to that, the Brazilian authorities have reported the discovery of the car with a badly burnt body inside, but were not ready to declare with certainty that the victim was ambassador himself, asking to wait for examination results.

Greek ambassador disappeared three days ago during a trip from the capital city of Brasilia to Rio de Janeiro. He intended to take part in the celebration of the New Year on the beach of Copacabana.

He was last seen on Monday in a suburb of Rio, where the car was found later. The version about the kidnapping of a diplomat from the outset was called unlikely, since no one has demanded a ransom.
