One of the participants of the coup in Turkey was the pilot who shot down a Russian fighter plane Su-24 in November 2015. This was stated by Ankara Mayor Melih Gökçek, reports TSN.

According to him, the pilot was a member of the preacher Fethullah Gulen organisation. The activities of this organization, Ankara calls a parallel state.

Earlier, President Erdogan accused Gulen's supporters in revolt organizations. The organization itself, which is based in the United States, has denied the charges, and Gulen personally condemned the coup.

Ankara mayor insists that this organization and spoiled relations between Turkey, and Russia, as their pilot, shot down a Russian SU-24 in November 2015.
