Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makey on the detention in Minsk of Ukrainian poet Serhiy  Zhadan. He said this on his page on Twitter.

Earlier Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the explanations of the Belarusian side, received today, do not satisfy the Ukrainian side.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry in connection with the incident also called the Belarusian Ambassador to Ukraine Igor Sokol. Ukrainians expressed deep concern about the situation in connection with the detention and prohibition of entry to Serhiy Zhadan and drew ambassador's attention to the systematic character of such actions of Belarusian law enforcement officers in relation to the citizens of Ukraine.

Ukrainian poet Serhiy Zhadan was detained in the capital of Belarus without explanation, according to his Facebook message on Saturday, February 11.

As the poet noted, policemen visited his hotel room around 2 a.m. and brought him to the police station without any explanation. After a while, they found out in their database that Serhiy Zhadan is prohibited to enter Russian Federation for “terrorist activity” since 2015, he says.
