The respective political initiatives must be implemented by the Cyprian government, authors of the resolution said (Kathimerini). ‘Introduction of EU sanctions against Russia did serious damage to many branches of economics tightly connected with Russia. Tourism, financial and professional services, commercial transports suffered the most’, reads the resolution.
The document also contains an urge for peaceful settling of the conflict in Ukraine and full implementation of Minsk agreements.
The resolution was passed on the initiative of Progressive party of Working People of Cyprus, in fact, the local communists. They said the sanctions did not calm down situation in Ukraine and thus they should be canceled as ineffective.
