European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, will not seek for a second mandate in the elections of the Head of executive board of the European Union in 2019. He stated this in an interview with Deutschlandfunk radio.

In particular, Juncker said, that in 2014 he had a wonderful election campaign. "But the  second (campaign - Ed.) will not take place, because I do not offer my candidacy for the second time", he said.

Let us remind, the former Prime Minister of Luxembourg, the 62-year-old Jean-Claude Juncker, took office as chairman of the European Commission in November 2014. Prior to that, he worked for many years as head of the Eurogroup - the council of finance ministers of the Euro zone countries.

The mandate of the Chairman of the European Commission is valid for five years with the possibility of one re-election.
