Israel responds to Syria’s attacks, striking opponent’s army

Israel strikes on artillery positions to the north of Golan Heights in response to shells fired from Syrian territory. This was announced by the Israeli Defense Ministry, reports DW.com.

"In response to the shells that were released earlier today on Israel from Syria, the AOI forces attacked the artillery positions of the Syrian military, from where the shelling was conducted," the statement of the Israeli command says.

The strikes hit artillery weaponry to the north of Golan Heights – the territory controlled by Bashar Assad’s forces, writes The Jerusalem Post agency.

Israel intends to hold the Syrian regime accountable for any violations of its borders and continues to act accordingly in these circumstances, AOI Brigadier General Ronen Manelis explains. Earlier, it was reported about the Israeli Air Force's attack on the territory of Syria.

As it was reported earlier America is ready to strike Syria after news on Assad chemical weapon, reported CNN. The United States are attentively watching for Syria's Shayrat airbase.
