Technologically Ukrainian Foreign Ministry will be ready to the implementation of the visa-regime with Russia. The ministry speaker Mariana Betsa announced that on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
“Indeed, we are analyzing this problem, it’s now new. In any case, technologically the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be ready to implementing such a regime if the political decision is taken by the authorized bodies. There is a number of issues need a balanced approach, first the impact on ordinary citizens, as almost three million of Ukrainians are living in Russia, and our first priority is to protect them. It's not deniable that this is about political prisoners – we are taking all measures to free them, to do this we need powerful foreign diplomatic institutions,” says Mariana Betsa.
According to her the visa regime with Russia will not solve the problem of the temporarily uncontrolled part of the Ukrainian border.
“Undoubtedly we realize that the visa regime won’t solve the problem of temporarily uncontrolled part of the Ukrainian-Russian state border. This is quite complicated issue. Another important factor is the issue of the Crime,” she noted.
Thee ministry doesn’t exclude the possibility of mirror actions by the Russian side.
“We also do not exclude provocations from the Russian side in case of introduction of the visa-regime. On one hand this may cause mirror actions – implementing of the visa-free regime with Ukraine by the Russian Federation. On the other hand – no mirror actions from the Russian side is also possible. Thus the flow of Ukrainians going to Russia will not decrease and this will not remove an item of their safety in Russia from the agenda,” Betsa added.
