The special services of Germany accused Russia of systematically spoiling the relations between Europe and the United States. This writes the weekly magazine Spiegel referring to a new report of the German government.

"Moscow deliberately tries, especially in Western countries, to exacerbate existing social conflicts. Russia is also seeking to call into question the very idea of a close alliance with the United States", writes Spiegel.

It is also noted that at present there is a debate in the government in Germany about how to introduce the content of the report to the Bundestag deputies and the public.

Earlier US President Barack Obama prolonged sanctions against Russia for another year, until March 6, 2018. They were imposed against Russian Federation in 2014. The extended sanctions also apply to Russian companies in the occupied Crimea, the Crimean and Donbas separatists, as well as Ukrainian ex-officials.
