The gas talks between Ukraine and Russia are to resume after almost a year-long pause. Today, another round of negotiations will be held in Brussels, Kommersant reports.

Ukraine said it is ready to discuss resuming purchases of the Russian blue fuel – if Russia’s leading energy company Gazprom refuses from take-or-pay scheme. Moscow, on the other hand, will be demanding that Kyiv lifts the 6.4 billion U.S. dollars' fine from Gazprom.

Now that the break in the negotiations took more than a year, the sides will be trying to come to terms. If they don’t, the next round of negotiations could take place in late winter – after the Stockholm arbitrary court announces the verdict in the ongoing gas dispute.

Kyiv stopped buying Russian gas in late November 2015.
