Freedom House, the international NGO, published their World Freedom report, in which the current situation in Crimea is defined as ‘absence of freedom’. The map from the report was uploaded on the NGO’s Facebook page.

The organization’s estimates put the level of public freedom in Crimea as 9 of 100; Russia is also considered a state with complete absence of freedom (20/100). This is why both Russia and the occupied Crimea are marked with the same dark color on the map. At the same time, the territory of the peninsula is visually separated from Crimea – as the separate entity. The report contains mentions of Crimea being under occupation.
