The Defense Ministers of Russia and Armenia Sergey Shoygu and Vigen Sargsyan signed an agreement on the joint military units of two countries. It was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the report, the units will include 102nd Russian military base in Armenia located on the territory of Armenia as well as Armenia’s Armed Forces units. The units are created for performing common tasks in case of necessity.

Among the main tasks of units there is in particular, covering the state border of Armenia and Russia on land, including with means and forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the document on military units state.

At the same time the Ministers signed an agreement on cooperation for 2017.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved and instructed to sign a draft agreement with Armenia on joint military units of the two countries in the Caucasus region of collective security.

Note that Putin declared before that Russia could be a guarantor in solving Nagorno-Karabakh question.
