The central district court of Mykolaiv city, southern Ukraine, arrested two former Ukrainian army servicemen who were detained yesterday at the administrative border between Ukraine and the occupied Crimea. Under the court decision, they can be released on bail worth of 10 to 14 thousand U.S. dollars respectively. Petro Vzinyuk, First Deputy Military Prosecutor of Southern region of Ukraine, reported this as quoted by Hromadske radio.

Earlier, November 21, Russia’s Defense Ministry accused Ukrainian special services of the alleged kidnapping and moving to Ukraine two Russian servicemen Maksim Odintsov and Alexandr Baranov. Later, Ukraine’s security service, the SBU, reported that the two were actually detained on the administrative border with the occupied Crimea. The SBU specified that they crossed the Ukrainian border and were detained at Chongar checkpoint in Kherson region. Both men are accused of defection and state treason, under the respective articles of Ukraine’s criminal code.

Russia’s Defense Ministry says the servicemen crossed the border with Ukraine at their own will.
