Kyiv Pechersk court granted the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine on application of a preventive measure in the form of arrest against fugitive businessman Serhiy Kurchenko. It was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
"Second application to the General Prosecutor's Office on the election of preventive measures in the form of detention was granted by the investigating judge of Pechersk district court of Kyiv, the corresponding decision was made," the statement said.
It is noted that the prosecutor's office and the investigating judge proved that the application of the Prosecutor General’s Office met the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, observance of the law by the prosecution when filing an application, proof of its claims and arguments about the need to apply namely the detention against Kurchenko.
Measures for the international search and bringing Kurchenko to justice continue.
As it was reported earlier, Kyiv Court of Appeal overturned the resolution on the arrest and detention of a fugitive businessman Serhiy Kurchenko.
Fugitive ex-Minister of Revenue and Duties of Ukraine Oleksandr Klymenko and businessman Serhiy Kurchenko caused $ 7.43 billion losses to Ukraine. Serhiy Kurchenko left for Russia after Euromaidan events.
