Participants of the trade blockade in Donbas report of a forcible break up of the blockade by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, reports the headquarters of the Blockade on their official Facebook page.

“The headquarters of the trade blockade appeals to the patriots of Ukraine who have officially registered weapons to enroll as a participant of the blockade to protect with us the unarmed volunteers, public activists and other participants,” reads the message.

The participants say that the blockade will be continued.

The public protest against the illegal trafficking between Ukraine and the self-styled Luhansk People's Republic began in January 25, 2017, when the Ukrainian Armed Forces veterans blocked railway Luhansk - Popasna. As a result of these actions the movement of 12 trains with a total of 700 cars were blocked.

Blocking railway tracks in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried by ATO veterans may entail humanitarian consequences and social tensions in the region.

Many Ukrainian cities will be left without heating because of the trade embargo on the Donbas region.
