Syrian President Bashar al Assad said that smell of the World War 3 is in the air in Syria. He announced that in his interview to Russian outlet Komsomolskaya Pravda

Bashar al Assad also said that terrorism is the main source of a problem, adding that the current situation on the world arena reminds of “the cold war in progress”.

“We see escalation of the conflict, but the main goal (of the US) – is to keep American supremacy in the world, not to let anyone to be their partner on the political or international arena, whether it is Russia or event they allies in the West. That’s why the smell of war, which you described as the World War 3, is in the air, but it’s not a direct military confrontation yet,” – said the head of the state.

Syrian President has also expressed his point of view on a new player in the Syria war – Turkey.

“This is not an intervention, it’s an invasion. This intrusion is an invasion, no matter whether the took a small or a bigger part of Syrian territory. This is an intervention in spite of all international laws, moral norms and against the sovereignty of Syria. Turks are draping their intentions trying declaring their innocence, because they’ve supported ISIS and Al-Nusra.

Military conflict in Syria continues from 2011. Governmental troops, opposition forces, radical Islamists, Kurd and others take part in the hostilities. A significant part of Syria is under the control of ISIS.

According to human rights activists as of August 2016, 290 thousand people were killed since the beginning of the conflict in Syria.
