29 wagons with roundwood were arrested by the border guards on Transnistria border during the joint operation of the National Police, Prosecutor’s Office, SBU and Rozdilnyanske forestry. This was reported by the Spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Oleh Slobodyan on his Facebook page.

"29 wagons loaded with wood arrived at the international checkpoint "Train station Kuchurgan" on the way from Ukraine. As a result of the investigation, it was found out that the documents were false. In particular, it was noted that it was "fuel wood" but in fact part of the wood was in category "business, forbidden to export," Oleh Slobodyan said.

At the same time the total number of freight wagons of the train was supposed to be 56, but only 29 of them came to the checkpoint "Train station Kuchurgan". The rest of them were at different stations of Odessa region, according to the Speaker of the State Border Service.

"The senders of the freight en route to Romania are the companies registered in Kyiv and Kyiv region,"  Oleh Slobodyan said and added that police continue to investigate all the circumstances of the violation.

Earlier it was reported that EU Delegation to Ukraine explained their stance on round wood export ban. “The ban is not preventing deforestation. And it does not prevent illegal logging or smuggling of wood as these illegal activities become more profitable,” – the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
