The National Bank of Ukraine considers the possibility to release the electronic hryvnia on the base of the innovative technologies. Interfax-Ukraine reported this, citing the press service of the National Bank.

‘Within the Cashless Economy Project, the possibility to use the blockchain technology to implement the innovative, high secure, effective and flexible platform is analyzed. The platform aims to meet the requirements of the payment market of the country and solve the problematic issues in the sphere of the non-cash transactions in Ukraine’, the press service reports.

It is expected that the implementation of the project will allow creating the country-wide, clear and highly effective retail payment platform with the minimal transactions expenses and instantaneous velocity of the money transmission from one person to another.

The pilot project is planned to be conducted on the volunteer basis, using the initiative partakers of the payment market of Ukraine. After the implementation of the project and its results, the National Bank of Ukraine will make the decision towards the further actions of the implementation of the electronic hryvnia.
