Ukraine received the second tranche of EU’s financial assistance in 2016, under the respective agreement between the Ukrainian government and the European Commission, signed in 2014. The overall sum equals 55.125 million Euros, Ukraine’s Finance Ministry reported.

The Ministry’s press service reported that the actual loan is the act of EU’s recognition of reforms in Ukraine – specifically, in the areas of ‘fighting corruption, improvement of state procurement system, transparency in funds management, administrative services, constitution reform and harmonization of electoral law’.

The first EU loan reached Ukraine in July 2016.
