The Government's proposal to raise the minimum wage to 3200 UAH ($ 125) turned into an unpleasant surprise, about which the advisors and the international partners of Ukraine were not aware of. Deputy Prime Minister of Poland Leszek Balcerowicz said this during the briefing, Unian reports.

"An unpleasant surprise was yesterday. I want to say that neither I, nor the international organizations were not aware of an increase of the minimum wage by 100%. What is more important, we were not familiar with the calculation, on which the decision is based", he said.

Strategic Advisor noted that this was the second unpleasant surprise from the government this year. The first was the extension of the moratorium on sale of farmland.

"I do not mind that there were fewer poor people, but poverty is eliminated by economic growth and the acceleration of growth requires acceleration of reforms", stressed Balcerowicz.
