Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Ukraine Sevki Aсuner expects to increase the bank's investment in the implementation of projects in Ukraine in 2017 to 1 billion euros, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"Over the previous two years, we have invested 2.2 billion euros in total, which is about 1 billion euros per year, so I expect that this year we will increase the level of investment to this amount," he said.
Acuner said that in 2016, the EBRD's investments in Ukraine amounted to about 600 million euros, the reason for such sum was political instability in Ukraine in early 2016.
The Director of the EBRD in Ukraine noted that for the current year the bank has a sufficient portfolio for investment and the volume of such investments should not be affected by the situation in Donbas. In particular, according to him, the EBRD in 2017 intends to invest in construction of subway in Kharkiv, in development of electricity networks in Ukraine, in general in the energy sector, as well as to finance several projects related to the port industry in Ukraine.
