The consumer prices decreased by 0.1% in August in Ukraine. The press service of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported this.

However, the inflation accelerated to 16.2% at the annualized level (according to the same period of time of the previous year). The Statistics Service specifies that the inflation made 8.1% since the beginning of the year. The main reason of the inflation at the annualized level is not so prominent price cutting for the food products this year as it was last year. It is explained by the worse weather conditions and changed international environment.

The food product became cheaper this August in 0.6% (the vegetables in 21.5%, fruits in 5.7%). The eggs became more expensive in 18%, meat and meat products in 2.9%.

The prices for the alcoholic drinks and tobacco increased by 1.4%, clothes and shoes became cheaper in 2.4%.

The accommodation, water, electric energy, gas and other fuels became more expensive in 0.3%.

The National Bank of Ukraine predicted deflation in August 2017.
